Susumu Yokota/Sakura (1999) *
An electronica musician and DJ who had released lots of singles and albums of house/techno/ambient music in several countries such as Germany, UK and Japan since 1992. His 1999 album released on his own Skintone label. Also released on the UK label Leaf in 2000. The title "Sakura" is a Japanese word which means "Cherry Blossom". An excellent ambient techno album featuring minimalism and afrobeat, like Brian Eno's 1970's experimental music. The sixth track "Gekkoh" samples Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians". The eighth track "Azukiiro No Kaori" samples "Sometime Ago/La Fiesta" from Chick Corea's album "Return to Forever".
