Violent Onsen Geisha/Otis (1993/1996)

Violent Onsen Geisha (1990-1997) is a one-man noise music act by Masaya Nakahara, a musician/film critic/novelist born in Tokyo in 1970. VOG had opened for Sonic Youth, Beck and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's concerts in Japan, and also performed live outside Japan many times, including a tour in the United States in 1995. The original of "Otis" was released on an independent label Endorphine Factory in 1993. This is a remixed edition released on the major label Toshiba EMI in 1996. Not a pure noise music, but a sound collage based on noise/industrial/hip-hop, with lots of samples of records and movie soundtracks. Humorous and chaotic sounds, for example, singing the theme song of a tokusatsu hero TV series "Mirrorman" in karaoke, and playing the melody of Paul Mauriat's "Love is blue". Recommended to those who like Boredoms, Pizzicato Five and Cornelius.
