Stereolab/Emperor Tomato Ketchup (1996)

The UK alternative rock/indie pop band formed by ex-McCarthy leader Tim Gane (guitar, keyboards) and French-born female vocalist Laetitia Sadier in London in 1991. The fourth full-length album released when Mary Hansen (keyboards, vocals) was in the band. The album title comes from Shuji Terayama's experimental art film. Pop-oriented and easy-listening music that assimilates Krautrock such as Faust and Neu!, bossa nova and lounge-pop. Strange and lightheaded sound featuring organ and Moog synthesizer. Droning repetitive rhythm. John McEntire from Tortoise joined as a producer for 5 tracks. Includes "Cybele's Reverie".
