(Various Artists)/Techno Kayo: Alfa edition/Shinkuu Kiss (1999/1980-1985)

A compilation (16 tracks, P-VINE) which includes techno pop and new wave tracks released from the Alfa Records in the early 1980s, centering around the works of YMO family. Y.M.O.'s "Kimi Ni Mune Kyun" is a hit song (#2 on the Japanese Oricon). Apogee & Perigee's two tracks (vocals: Jun Togawa), "Getsusekai Ryoko (Trip to the Moon)" and "Shinkuu Kiss (Vacuum Kiss)" from YEN Label's all-star album "Chojiku Korodasutan Ryokoki", are good songs of nostalgic and peaceful techno pop. Danceable "Ma Ticarica" in the breakbeat style is a collaboration between Hajime Tachibara and Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh. Ex-Plastics vocalist Toshio Nakanishi's new wave band, Melon's single "P.J." is a commercial song for Shiseido's brand "Parky Jean". Snakeman Show's "Sakisaka to Momonai no Gokigen Ikaga 1, 2, 3 (Sakisaka and Momonai's What Cheer 1, 2, 3)" is a pioneering track of Japanese rap, composed and arranged by Haruomi Hosono. "Boshi Jusei (Mother-Child Fertilization)" is the B-side of Jun Togawa's single of the two covers of Halmens (A-side is "Radar Man"). Jim O'Rourke contributed liner notes to this album.
